5 Things I’ve Learnt…

Hello everyone, and welcome back to Gluten Free Hannah! (It’s been a while…!)

I took some time off over Christmas, and now my January exams are done, so I’m back! I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and New Year, and the January blues haven’t kicked in too much yet.

Since it has been about 6 months since I started my gluten free journey, here are 5 things I’ve learnt so far.

My Top 5 Schar

Hello everyone, and welcome back to Gluten Free Hannah!

One of the things I noticed when I first walked down the gluten free aisle was the bright yellow packaging of Schar. It really stands out on the shelf, and for good reasons too. Schar provide a massive variety of gluten free products, from breads and biscuits, to crackers and, most recently, waffles! Schar is a very popular brand that provides gluten free products at a very high quality, so it’s no wonder the gluten free aisles are dominated by their yellow packaging.

I haven’t yet tried a Schar product that I don’t like, having said that, I definitely have my favourites! So, here are my top 5 Schar products.

Gluten Free at Uni

Hello everyone, and welcome back to Gluten Free Hannah.

Some of you may already know that I am a student at the University of Bristol and I have just started the second year of my Maths degree.

If you’ve read my Becoming Gluten Free post, then you’ll know that I have only recently become gluten intolerant. The diagnosis started back in May, and I had my endoscopy test in July, so this is my first time being gluten free whilst at uni.

Over summer I’ve been quite worried about how I’ll get on with it when I started back at uni. Here are my thoughts and discoveries about being a gluten free student.

A Day At The Seaside

Hello everyone, and welcome back to Gluten Free Hannah!

Last weekend I had a lovely day out at the seaside with my family. The main reason for the trip was to take my dog to the beach – he’s nearly three years old now and has barely left Leicestershire! So, last Saturday we packed up a few things and headed off to north Norfolk.

Starting The Day Right

Hello everyone, welcome back to Gluten Free Hannah!

Breakfast is one of the most important meals for me. Most mornings I wake up feeling hungry and I don’t feel ready for the day until I’ve had something to eat. When I’m at uni I normally have long days of lectures and studying so I like something that’s full of nutritional goodness that will give me a perfect start to the day.

When becoming gluten free, it was vital that I found a breakfast meal that I liked and would make me feel ready for the day ahead.

Thoughts on Acne and Coeliac Disease

Hello everyone, welcome back to Gluten Free Hannah!

This post is about a possible relationship between acne and coeliac disease.

I have suffered from acne for many years now. After exhausting all potential solutions and cures by using products from the drugstore, to taking antibiotics and topical treatments prescribed by my GP, I decided to see a dermatologist. I went on a 6-month course of a drug called Roaccutane, or Isotretinoin.

Gluten Free Hannah

Hello everyone, welcome to Gluten Free Hannah!

I am just starting up this blog with the aim to document my gluten free journey. I would love to share it with you, and create a friendly, welcoming place, for people to share experiences and ideas, and inspire others.

At the time of starting this blog then I have only been gluten free for a couple of months. I will talk more about the first stages of finding out about Coeliac Disease and adopting a gluten free diet in my next post but first I thought I would tell you a bit more about myself first.
