5 Things I’ve Learnt…

Hello everyone, and welcome back to Gluten Free Hannah! (It’s been a while…!)

I took some time off over Christmas, and now my January exams are done, so I’m back! I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and New Year, and the January blues haven’t kicked in too much yet.

Since it has been about 6 months since I started my gluten free journey, here are 5 things I’ve learnt so far.

Gluten Free Mince Pies

Hello everyone, and welcome back to Gluten Free Hannah!

I hope everyone has been embracing the festiveness and are ready for Christmas! (only 3 more sleeps!!)

Anyway, Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas in my house without some homemade mince pies. The only problem I had was finding some suitable gluten free pastry to use. That’s when I came across this Genius gluten free shortcrust pastry.

Birthday Cheesecake

Hello everyone, and welcome back to Gluten Free Hannah!

If you read my last blog post (here), you’ll know that it was my birthday this week. I spent last weekend in London with my family, and I was back in Bristol to celebrate with my friends on Monday.

Whilst I was in London, two of my friends, Kamila and Julia, took it upon themselves to make a gluten free cake for me. Let me tell you, they did so well! They made me a Birthday Cheesecake and it was amazing, so they have given me the recipe to share with you all.

48 Hours in London

Hello everyone and welcome, back to Gluten Free Hannah!

It’s my birthday this week and so to celebrate I decided to meet my family in London, so we could spend some time together and go out for a meal for my birthday.

I had two really nice meals over the weekend so I thought I’d share my experience.

Gluten Free Waffles

Hello everyone, and welcome back to Gluten Free Hannah.

When my Nana said that she had an idea for a birthday present for me, I was over the moon when she suggested a waffle maker. It’s not something I’ve ever thought I needed, until now.

Being gluten free means that it’s not as easy to go to the shop and pick up things like waffles, just because they are quite hard to find and not everywhere stocks them. So why not make them myself. Here is my first attempt at using my waffle maker, and it was a success!

Gluten Free Snacks – Lifebox

Hello everyone, and welcome back to Gluten Free Hannah.

I wanted to find some snacks that were gluten free and healthy, something that I might not have tried before or that is not readily available in supermarkets.

I decided to trial a subscription to Lifebox. Lifebox is a monthly subscription box that comes packed with snacks, drinks and treats to try. I love the idea of subscription boxes as it gives you the chance to discover new things. I ordered a one-off Travel Lifebox and also the 3-month trial of the Women’s Health Lifebox.

Days Out

Hello everyone, and welcome back to Gluten Free Hannah.

Becoming gluten free requires some thought whenever there is a plan to do something, especially if the plan involves eating out. I like to know that wherever I may be going, there will be somewhere that accommodates gluten free eaters well, and there will be something I want to eat (basically something on the menu other than salad!).

Since I was a child I have been going to football matches most weekends to support Leicester City. As I got older, this included going to away matches. My dad, grandad, sister and I would travel across the country to the match, and either stop somewhere on the way to eat, or eat at our destination. Since becoming gluten free, this has started getting trickier.

My Top 5 Schar

Hello everyone, and welcome back to Gluten Free Hannah!

One of the things I noticed when I first walked down the gluten free aisle was the bright yellow packaging of Schar. It really stands out on the shelf, and for good reasons too. Schar provide a massive variety of gluten free products, from breads and biscuits, to crackers and, most recently, waffles! Schar is a very popular brand that provides gluten free products at a very high quality, so it’s no wonder the gluten free aisles are dominated by their yellow packaging.

I haven’t yet tried a Schar product that I don’t like, having said that, I definitely have my favourites! So, here are my top 5 Schar products.

Gluten Free at Uni

Hello everyone, and welcome back to Gluten Free Hannah.

Some of you may already know that I am a student at the University of Bristol and I have just started the second year of my Maths degree.

If you’ve read my Becoming Gluten Free post, then you’ll know that I have only recently become gluten intolerant. The diagnosis started back in May, and I had my endoscopy test in July, so this is my first time being gluten free whilst at uni.

Over summer I’ve been quite worried about how I’ll get on with it when I started back at uni. Here are my thoughts and discoveries about being a gluten free student.
